Memoria drop-in session at Westminster for MPs – July 2022

In an industry first, Memoria hosted a drop-in session at Westminster for MPs after Prime Minister’s Questions on Wednesday 13th July 2022.The session focused on the changes and choices in the funeral industry for the general public.

Never before have events such as the pandemic and the overwhelming influence of the internet created such diverse choices for people planning a funeral. Many still believe that a fully attended service with your family and friends close by is the only way to say goodbye properly, but over 12% of those planning a funeral will take out debt to pay for it.

Five senior Memoria staff talked to MPs to help promulgate awareness of the choices available so that everyone can plan an affordable, high quality attended funeral service.

The session was hosted by MP for Delyn, Rob Roberts who recently opened one of eleven Memoria Jubilee Gardens at Flintshire Memorial Park and Crematorium. Of the drop-in session, he said:

It was a pleasure to host Frank, Richard, Davinia, Kirsty and Michael, some of the senior management from Memoria Flintshire in Parliament today for a brief lunch and a presentation to MPs regarding their different activities in the funeral and crematorium market.

MPs from all over the country attended to hear about the changes that their industry is going through and how they are leading the way to make funeral services more affordable and more meaningful to everyone.

Having recently been honoured to be asked to open their Jubilee Garden at the crematorium in Northop, I got talking to their directors and realised that they are passionate about making sure that people have access to the best service possible during some of the most challenging times. It was my pleasure to host them today so that they could spread their message to further afield.
